Gotta make those rape victims pay!

The more I learn about this woman, the less I like her:

Recently reported by the Associated Press:

When Sarah Palin was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, the small town began billing sexual-assault victims for the cost of rape kits and forensic exams.

On the other hand:

When Senator Joseph Biden, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, drafted the 1994 Violence Against Women Act, he included provisions to make states ineligible for federal grant money if they charged rape victims for exams and the kits containing the medical supplies needed to conduct them. (Senator John McCain, Ms. Palin’s running mate, voted against Mr. Biden’s initiative, and his name has not been among the long list of co-sponsors each time the act has been renewed.)

And we're supposed to believe that women will all flock to the polls to vote for her because . . . she's a woman? This has got to be one of the most anti-woman candidates this country has ever had run for major office.

Factcheck.org has a rebuttal of the claims that I made in this post.

Up here in sunny Canada, I believe that many make voting choices for the most irrational of reasons, and often against their self-interest and the interest of their communities. Up here, we have a right-wing Prime Minister who has taken to appearing on TV commercials in nice sweaters to soften his image. He has a history of being on the far right and he's trying to sell himself as a moderate on the basis of two years running an impotent do-nothing minority government. If the polls are accurate, he is likely to win and possibly even win a majority government.

All I'm saying is that you can't depend on good sense to prevail.

If the Canadians lose good sense, all hope is gone!

Either that or most callously manipulative election.

Still, this gives people good reason to invalidate identity politics with their vote, showing the world they're not single issue voters and simpletons.

I hope that this revelation helps them loose the election. I've posted the NY Times link on several of the Blogs I visit.

Reuplicans usually make people be afraid of severail things to get votes. "if you don,t vote for us , we will suffer a terrorist. attack" "if you don,t vote for us, we will suffer a great depression". I think you need a man ( a black one in this case) who offer possitive thing. Almost Obama know where Spain is( i am spanish). and know taht in this european country (Spain) there are most friends of America.
be lucky in your election.

The Republicans definitely live off fear. McCain recently said that he wanted to freeze all spending EXCEPT that of the military. Yet the U.S. spends more on its military than the rest of the world combined. I don't know what the American tax-payer gets for all this money besides a collapsing economy and hatred from around the world. Obama would definitely be an improvement.

The Democrats should be bringing Palin's anti-woman stance to the forefront before uninformed women decide to vote for her.
