Katrina death count

On the news yesterday, a professor (from LSU?) was predicting that the death count from Katrina would climb to around 10,000. And the number of displaced must be enormous. There's been some upbeat news about positive responses by communities (e.g., Houston) taking these people in. I can't imagine showing up some place without belongings and in a state of emotional shock, trying to create a life again. These people will definitely need all the help we can give them.

It is very sad, the death toll from this hurricane will be hard to take.
