Zinn on history

I'm currently reading The Future of History by Howard Zinn. It's an interesting set of interviews that has the advantage of containing many informal reflections on a diverse range of topics. I really like Zinn's take on the enterprise of telling history. Zinn states from the outset that history can never be wholly objective since it requires us to choose specific facts as being more important than others in the historical narrative. He goes on to discuss cases in which history is biased towards the interests of the powerful.

Have you also treated yourself to Zinn's A People's History of the United States? I highly recommend it, although it does tend to make one angry.

Yes. I thought that was a truly great work--something they should use everywhere as a high-school history text.
