At long last

All I can say is it's about time. CNN will air a documentary "Dead Wrong" that will discuss the intelligence "meltdown" leading up to Shrub's War. I have watched a number of experts, both on TV and in person, absolutely tear apart the story given to the public. According to these experts, Powell's U.N. presentation was so far-fetched that anyone and everyone on the ground in Iraq couldn't watch it with a straight face. The CNN documentary will present Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson, a former top aide to Colin Powell, who describes his involvement in the former secretary of state's presentation to the United Nations on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction as "the lowest point" in his life. With such a heartfelt confession, the American people may be able to absolve these lower-level accomplices of their wrong-doing. The people at the top are another story. The corruption is so deep in the current administration that I think the only way we'll ever get to the bottom of it is through an impeachment process that ends with Bush serving time along with his co-conspirators. Or if all the "curveballs" and cooked intel came solely from the CIA to a naive administration, the high officials in the CIA should be arrested. Personally, I don't think this happened, but an administration witch hunt in the CIA might turn up the heat enough that some CIA operatives would be willing to break rank and tell the story of who was ultimately responsible for the lies.

I saw part of the CNN documentary. It was pretty damning. I expect there will be the usual fusillade of howls from the right-wing.

Unfortunately, I missed it. There are times I wish I had Tivo.
